In The Works

Not wanting to end the week on a weird note and in the interest of providing a little more of a personal update as to the current goings-on in my world, here’s a quick rundown…

The missus is starting to ramp up with interviews for a fall teaching position following our Miami non-relocation fiasco.  (If you haven’t heard that story yet, stay tuned.  I might have to throw together a post or two on that one.) While the process is time-consuming and the prospect of multiple job interviews nervewracking, she’s taking it all in stride and doing an awesome job.  I know she can’t wait to get back in front of a classroom of kids this fall and do what she does best: bring the joy of making art to children.

Andrew turns four on Sunday.  Four.  Wow.  How crazy is that.  He’s plunged headlong into reading and writing recently and has amazed us with not only his capacity to learn, but his voracious appetite to do so as well.  But just when you think that he’s getting too big for his britches, it’s nice to remember that his party tomorrow will be all about Thomas the Train.

Meanwhile, Gracie is still a pistol (three months shy of careening into the terrible twos) and officially has become Andrew’s shadow.  I also think she’s quietly constructing a thermonuclear device in her room.  Haven’t found it yet, but I did notice a strange green glow emanating from beneath her bed.  Could have been a hastily discarded diaper, though…

And as for me?  I’ve got some cool freelance opps ramping up right now, including a new web site for a good friend of mine (a local KC jazz bassist, composer, and musical instigator) and lending some high level marketing support to a St. Louis-based improvisational theatre company.  Some other stuff is in the works as well, but definitely too prelim to make much note of as of yet.  But stay tuned.
