So I hit my local Burger King for a quick bite before work this morning. I was running late and the thought of oatmeal didn’t quite get me excited when I rolled out of bed. As I was pulling through the drive-thru, I noticed a window cling for a mobile game download featuring the Potentate of the Patties — “BK City.” (Apparently, this has been in the works since last October.)
Patiently waiting for my french toast sticks, hash rounds and OJ, I texted “king” to 90210 as instructed and was immediately greeted with a short message and a link to download the game to my phone. Impressed by the experience thus far, I hit the link and was thinking I would be riding with the King in no time. But alas, it was not meant to be. Apparently my handset is not supported “at this time.” How disappointing.
Now before you think that I’m sporting some obscure mobile gadget or an out-of-date Fox Mulder brickphone, let me set the record straight — I’m on Sprint and I have a Motorola RAZR. We’re talking about a network that has 53.8 million subscribers and a phone that has sold over 50 million units worldwide.
Oh well. At least they didn’t screw up my breakfast order.

I don’t think that the game is launched yet, but I could be wrong.
Yep, totally understand. I’m chalking this up to my local BK being a little premature on getting their POP materials posted. If the thing had officially launched, I’m sure we’d all be drowning in the inevitable tidal wave of PR generated by that whiz bang ad agency of theirs. I’m definitely going to keep tabs on this one, though. Based on what I’ve read and seen to date, it’s a pretty damn cool idea.
