Bob Schneider: “40 Dogs (Like Romeo & Juliet)”

I’ve been a fan of Austinite singer/songwriter Bob Schneider for quite some time and a quick tweet this morning from my buddy @jharr totally reminded me how much I dig this guy’s work. But alas, I’ve been slacking on my duties as a fan and failed to realize that he has a new disc out, Lovely Creatures. The latest cut from that release — “40 Dogs (Like Romeo & Juliet)” — has been translated into a fantastic video by filmmaker and fellow Austin resident Robert Rodriquez (El Mariachi, Sin City, Grindhouse).

For an interview with Schneider and Rodriquez on this collaboration, check out IFC.com. It’s a good read. About 5 years ago (!) I had the chance to interview Schneider for the Pitch. Hands down, one of my favorite conversations with a musician ever. We talked for about 45 minutes with only a fraction of the conversation making it into the final piece. If there’s such a thing as being eloquently crass, Schneider fits the bill.
