On April 27, 2008, Easter was officially celebrated a second time in Kansas City. For members of the Eastern Orthodox churches in the area, whose determination of the date for the holiday is based on factors that differ from other Western Christian religions, the event is always a joyous celebration of renewal. Though Eastern Orthodoxy is often denoted by such ethnic dilineations as “Russian,” “Greek,” “Serbian,” and others, the celebration of “Pascha” is also a time for unity in faith and love.

For a glimpse into the liturgical beauty of an Orthodox Pascha, we join the clergy, choir and congregation of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in Overland Park, Kansas, who as a parish has been celebrating this feast in Kansas City every year for over 90 years. [Recorded 4.27.08.]
